Frozen Lake Bhairab Kund Itinerary

  • Day 01 Pick up in Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel.

    On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, where you will be warmly received by our guides and staff with garland and then transfer you to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed join in with other members of Frozen Lake Bhairab Kund Trekking, here our guide will brief you with information regarding trekking, do’s and don’ts, Nepalese culture, lodge on route trek with full information to make your stay with us enjoyable and memorable, evening welcome dinner at typical Nepalese restaurant with folk-cultural program as entertainment during dinner.       

  • Day 02 Kathmandu with sightseeing tour, trek briefing and preparations.

    Morning after breakfast at given time for sightseeing tour, our city guides will meet you at the hotel for interesting sightseeing tour leading you in the heart of Kathmandu at old Durbar (palace) square of great historical importance includes Temple of Kumari (Living young virgin Goddess) Kastamandap Temple where Kathmandu name derived from, a temple built with the wood of a single tree, tour of old palace during the reign of Malla and late Shah kings.

    Tour leads to famous landmark of Nepal at Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,500 years old a Buddhist Chaitya or Stupa with all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha.

    Afternoon visit holy Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath adorned with silver doors and golden tiers roofed pagoda a popular and famous temple where thousands of pilgrims visits every year in the month of February on Shiva Rartri (Lord Shiva birth anniversary). From Pashupatinath a short drive to Bouddhanath with Asia’s largest domed Stupa with four cardinals eyes of Buddha surrounded with prayer wheels and small market with interesting stores, shops and restaurants, the place is also known as Little Tibet due to strong hold of Tibetan influenced tribe and peoples. After an interesting and exciting tour of world heritage sites return back to hotel for Frozen Lake Bhairab Kund Trekking preparation and last minute briefing from our guides and staff.

  • Day 03 Drive to Jalbire 1000m 04 hrs journeys.

    From Kathmandu morning scenic drive on Kodari highway leading past Kathmandu Valley towards Dolalghat where Sun-Koshi River flows, after Dolalghat drive leads towards North East on route Balephi town close at Nepal and Tibet border.

    Balephi, this small farm town in earlier days used to be a major trade point and route to Tibet with beautiful valley of Balephi, from here drive leads on dirt and rough road to Jalbire.

    Drive leads for an hour following upper Bhote Kosi River upstream to reach our first overnight halt at Jalbire, a lovely looking Newari village located on the banks of Balephi River, here with ample time to explore Newari culture and visit of Lord Vishnu Temple.

  • Day 04 Trek to Chanaute 1,350 m - 05 hrs.

    Today a nice and pleasant walk of five hours to reach at Chanaute, our walk follows a small Tamang villages and farms with views of beautiful waterfalls, and then as the walk progress reaching at Chanaute, a small and neat farm village populated mostly by Hindu sects of Brahmins and Chettris people. Overnight near the local school premises where you can relax and marvel the great mountain views.

  • Day 05 Trek to Khani Gaon 2000m - 06 hrs.

    Morning an interesting and long walks of six hours from Chanaute to reach at Khani Gaon, our route follows a steep uphill and narrow path passing some farm villages with local primary schools, and then reaching at Khani Gaon as the long completes in another Newari village, which is also called Dalle Pokhari after it’s ‘small pond’ tucked in a hollow by the school premises.

    In mid 18th century, before Nepal was unified war took place between Gorkha and Bhaktapur city, and the people of Bhaktapur fled and escaped as far to Bhariab Kund lower areas to take refuge from the Shah King of Gorkha, and then finally settled around the area permanently with trade between Nepal and Tibet here enjoy the views of mountains.

  • Day 06 Trek to Forest Camp 3,150m - 07 hrs.

    Morning walk leads to a steep uphill trail into cool alpine forest of rhododendrons, as the trek becomes quite strenuous then other previous days, but worth the tough walk having wonderful time in and around tranquility of dense forested area, passing several cow-herds and Sheppard's huts with chances of spotting some wildlife, as this area is seldom visited by trekkers, after a nice day walk overnight camp is set in the middle of the forest.

  • Day 07 Trek to Pati 3,765 m - 05 hrs.

    From the forest camp morning walk leads again to a steep climb with few short breaks in between and then with final climb to reach a ridge top, offering stunning views of surrounding landscapes with snow capped mountains, after a long climb reaching at Pati for the overnight stop. The campsite with mountain views, this area a resting place for pilgrims on a visit to holy Bhairav Kund on auspicious time as per the Hindu calendar.

  • Day 08 Trek to Bhairab Kunda 4,250 m - 04 hrs.

    After breakfast leaving this camp, walk leads uphill for an hour or more, then reaching at a ridge top offering striking views of snow capped peaks, from here walk on gradual path for few hours to reach our final destination and the high lights of the journey reaching at Frozen Lake Bhairab Kund for overnight stop and for afternoon exploration.

    Afternoon explore around to a hill top for more views towards Jugal Himal range with Bhairab Kund, (Kund means ‘pond’) located at 4,250 m high. An important pilgrimage where once a year in the months of June or July pilgrims visits the Hindu temple which is dedicated to Lord Bhairab another manifestation of Lord Shiva and taking bathe in the holy pond, belief is that it washes the sins of a hundred life-times.

  • Day 09 Trek to Sherpa Gaon 2,500m - 06 hrs.

    Early morning catch the stunning sunrise, and then depart from this holy area with uphill walk of two hours, then reaching at the top with grand views of Langtang, Jugal Himal and peaks of Rolwaling range with Tibet mountain range as well across the border. After a grand morning views heading back on downhill path for six hours through lovely forest to reach at Sherpa Goan for overnight stop, this is small farm village of Sherpa tribe the highlanders of Himalaya.

  • Day 10 Trek to Larche 1,500m visit hot spring - 05 hrs.

    Today, last day of this wonderful adventure as the walk follows to a descend for four hours to reach at the bank of Bhote Kosi River and to our last overnight stop at Larche village with natural hot spring where you can relax after a great walk.

  • Day 11 Drive to Kathmandu - 06 hrs.

    After a fantastic trek to Bhairab Kund with amazing panorama of mountains and unique landscapes, a scenic drive back to Kathmandu of five hours journey, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to your respective hotels with afternoon free for individual activities.

  • Day 12 International Departure for Homeward bound.

    Last day in Nepal with land of great Himalayan wonders with fascinating culture, after a memorable time on Frozen Lake Bhairab Kund Trekking with awesome and wonderful experience, as per your international flight time our staff transfers you to Airport for the flight back home or to respective countries.
